How do you pick the darker and lighter tones for each color?
I'm a bit more curious about the last two and how they differ from the other palettes...
UPDATE: I uploaded the 50% Gray BG with the colors seporated for those that need it over here. Also, as for the "Whites" in the last two swatches, the one for her skin has a blue hue, the other does not and is for clothing. :) https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37248226/
I'm glad you liked it and thanks for asking. The base color is in the circle and the highlight is in the left triangle pointing up, and the shadows in the right triangle pointing down. the last two colors where where i realized i didn't have skin, eye or clothing hues as i used most of my space for her hair. So i split them diagonally.
so for the eye hue and her skin hue, their highlights are still in the left triangle, and shadows in the right triangle. the same holds true for the fake black and fake white square. Also, in case you're wondering, I try to never use pure black or pure white in subjects, as if you do, you are unable to go any darker or any lighter from there.
If it'd help, what i can do is separate the colors and put it against a 50% gray background, so that it's easier to pick out what colors you need. I usually use gray backgrounds for my palettes because it shows better contrast, but for uploading the image, i decided to go with white, as i thought it looked nicer and it greatly reduced the ink i needed for the print.
